• Artificial Intelligence

What will students gain from this program?

This program challenges you to think about a future business world enabled by robotics and artificial intelligence in a country that has proven resilient to the onslaught of low-cost country competition. Our field study will include visits entities operating at the forefront of technology development or application ranging from the German Center for Artificial Intelligence to a premium automobile factory to a state-of-the-art Amazon fulfillment center. We will seek to minimize classroom time but instead focus on firsthand observation in the field. Each day will entail a visit to a company or other form of enterprise offering insight into the technical, business, and societal implications of AI and robotics.

Though we will not focus on the cultural context of Germany, students will have evenings free to explore the cities we will use as the base for our company visits. We will end the week at the Berlin Wall as we reflect on the impact on the challenges ahead and the role of capitalism in a world facing potentially significant technological unemployment.

    Academic Program Overview

Prior to the trip, students will engage in the course's subject matter through discussions of science fiction and non-fiction books. While in Germany, students will visit two companies or enterprises per day.
